The ColorEssence Foundations Certification was created by Stacey Herndon, a professional color analyst who has guided over 2,700 people in discovering their own best colors. Drawing from multiple established color analysis systems (including everything from Caygill to TCI) she developed an integrated 12-season process that is both easy to learn and repeatable. Every step has been refined through real-world application, so graduates can trust they are learning a method that works.

To earn certification, you’ll complete all six modules, pass each end-of-module quiz, submit a short book report, and complete a capstone client analysis project. Once your work is approved and your license agreement is signed, you’ll be officially listed as a ColorEssence Certified™ 12-Season Color Analyst with full access to your tools and templates.

No. This program is designed for beginners as well as those who already work in creative industries or run their own businesses. If you’d like to add color analysis as a valuable, income-generating service alongside your existing work, this certification will give you the skill and structure to do it.

Certification is not guaranteed. If you don’t meet the requirements within the 12-week timeline, you may apply for a three-month extension at no additional charge. Additional extensions are available for $99 per quarter.

No special tools are required to complete certification, though you will likely want at least a trial of Canva Pro to create your client materials. If you plan to offer in-person services after certification, you’ll need drapes and lighting. We provide a full recommended tools list with preferred vendors for everything from in-person setup to digital delivery.
