5-Step Color Analysis Method
Our proprietary 5-Step Color Analysis Method™ upholds color draping as the best and most complete way to find a person’s unique color attributes. But we also make space for other modalities to improve the client experience.
We begin with eye pattern color analysis, based on combinations of one-of-a-kind patterns found in the eyes. Then we move into the 4-Color Drape Test to examine the Big Four Seasons (spring, summer, autumn, and winter), followed by Extended Draping to test flow and dominance. Once we have an educated hypothesis, we test neutrals and metallics to confirm. Finally, we drape individual best colors to give the client a harmonious palette.
This ensures that we embrace best practices with established theory, while giving the client a customized experience.
12-Season Flow System
The Foundations certification program is based on the modern 12-season color analysis system. We begin with the essential four seasons as foundational and true, and add flow analysis to provide a complete 12-season system.
Plainly, this means that we assign every client a primary Big Four season, with a secondary supporting season that impacts the expression. These combinations give us 12-Seasons to find a fit for every person.
While there are many other systems out there, the 12-Season system continues to be widely recognizable across the world, drawing over 4.8 million searches annually. This means that your client has access to more education with their own season and finds it easier to apply their analysis results.

Virtual First Methodology
Our program teaches both virtual and in-person color analysis using the same 5-Step Color Analysis method.
However, we recognize that virtual color analysis provides more complex strategies for accuracy and precision, which is why we teach it first and more deeply than in-person services.
Two dimensional color analysis lacks certain cues of the in-person process, which is why we integrate other client clues to ensure objective outcomes. Once you have mastered virtual color analysis, in-person sessions are straightforward.

Color Analysis Curriculum
Specialized Color analysis Training
Every person’s coloring is unique, and some presentations call for more nuance than a standard framework provides.
That’s why we’ve built in specific training to help you confidently handle the cases that trip up less-prepared analysts: people of color, aging clients, imperfect fit types, and facial hair adjustments.
How Do I Get Certified in Color Analysis?
Our color analysis training program is a mix of self-study material and graded checkpoints.
You will watch videos for each of the modules, and take a quiz at the end. You must receive an 80% passing grade on each lesson quiz to be eligible for certification. Retakes are unlimited.
We require a book review on a foundational color theory text. You will read the book and answer a short form with your insights and lessons learned to integrate into your own theory. This is a pass/fail assignment.
We will provide a full set of practice cases covering each of the 12-Seasons, with both simple and complex presentations. You must complete each of these and a quiz requiring all seasons correctly identified. Unlimited retakes, must reach 100%.
Your final requirement is a capstone project, where you’ll choose one of four provided client cases to conduct a full virtual analysis and complete a client report. You will meet with Stacey before completing the final version of your report to clarify any knowledge gaps before certification. Pass/fail.
Upon completion of all requirements, you will receive a Certificate of Completion and ColorEssence Certified™ 12-Season Color Analyst Badge to display.
About Stacey Herndon
Stacey Herndon is the founder of Radiantly Dressed® and its stylist training arm, ColorEssence Style System. Her study of color began as a personal pursuit, working to understand color for herself before it became the foundation of her business. She holds a certification in image consulting, and from there built a deep, independent study of color theory specifically, drawing on the work of Suzanne Caygill, David Zyla, TCI, 12 Blueprints, and Bernice Kentner.
Stacey founded Radiantly Dressed in 2020 and has spent the years since building a body of work behind it: over 3,000 product sales in DIY color analysis and digital education, more than one million readers reached through free educational content, and recognition as a top-ranked Google educator on 12-season color analysis topics. She is also a published author.
